What’s the cheapest/best way to get from New York City to Montreal without a Car?
Go to the Port Authority Bus Terminal on West 42nd Street and buy a Greyhound ticket. It’s a straight shot up the Hudson River Valley to Montreal.
There are two bus companies that do the route from NYC to Montreal. Greyhound and Adirondack Trailways. The latter is a bit more expensive, but has nicer buses. Greyhound is more frequent.
What is the best way to travel from Newark Airport to Times Square in New York City?
There are many options.
Option 1.

Purchase one way ticket cost $7.25 and according to Airtrain Newark page, one way NJT Ticket is encoded with Airtrain Newark portion.
Then take any Northeast or North Jersey Coast Lines heading to New York Penn Station, then walk to your hotel in Times Square area.
Option 2: Via NJT #62/#67
Since Newark is Fare Zone 1 for New Jersey Transit Bus, bus cost $1.35 one way.

What’s the cheapest/best way to get from Jersey City to New York City without a Car?
Forget having a car at all if you’re going to be spending anytime in NYC.
Jersey City – take the PATH trains to Manhattan. Once you’re in Manhattan, you have lots of connections via the subway, depending on where you want to go.
Alternatively, you can take a NJ transit bus to the Port Authority Bus Terminal. From there are also subway connections to other parts of Manhattan and beyond.
What’s the cheapest/best way to get from New York City to Boston without a Car?
Amtrak is a good way to go. You will get plenty of room to relax and even do any personal work you may have at speed of between 90 and 120 miles an hour (144 to 193 km/h). The one way fare ranges from $62 to $109.
You can also take the bus from Manhattan to Boston. Besides the ones in Chinatown, you can take BoltBus, which operates from Penn Station to Boston. Their fare is reasonable, they range from $15 to $17.50 one way. Check out the link below.

Another bus is MEGABUS, which picks up from Penn Station and drops you off at Back Bay Station.

One ways vary from $5-$20
well the cheapest way are those china town buses
best way probably Amtrak
What’s the cheapest/best way to get from New York City to Buffalo, NY without a Car?
Cheapest way to get from Big Apple to Buffalo, NY is by Trentway-Wagar Inc to Hamilton or Montreal-Toronton-Buffalo owned by Coach USA.
It can be long ride by bus with traffic, it is beautiful scenic.
Amtrak is very expensive and it is limited even though it is scenic.
THIS IS BEST TRAVEL OPTIONS.

What’s the cheapest/best way to get from New York City to Providence RI without a Car? (without Amtrak or Greyhound)
The china town bus is the cheapest but then you still have to take the train from Boston to providence, other than that you can take Peter Pan or Bonanza bus lines. Besides Amtrak there really aren’t any other options.
What’s the cheapest/best way to get from New York City to Philadelphia PA without a Car?
Amtrak is way too expensive. There is two ways much cheaper. You can take the bus from Chinatown that leaves hourly. The cost is $20.00 round trip and leaves you off at 11th and Arch in Philly. Or you can go to Penn Station and take NJ Transit to Trenton (Cost $18.50 round trip), from Trenton you take the R7 Septa (South Eastern Pennsylvania Transit Authority) to Philly which leaves you at Market Street East Station, Suburban Station or 30th Street Station (Cost $14.00 round trip) You will save money either way over Amtrak.
A much cheaper but time-consuming alternative to Amtrak is to take the SEPTA R7 Train from Philly to Trenton, then connect at Trenton to the New Jersey Transit train to Penn Station, NY. You can catch the R7 at Market East (around 18th & Market I think) or 30th Street Station, where Amtrak also leaves from. The NJT ride is about 1 hour 20 minutes, the SEPTA maybe 50 minutes, plus a little time hanging out at the Trenton station. Bring something to read!
What’s the cheapest/best way to get from Philadelphia PA to New York City without a Car?
One way fare on Northeast Corridor Line operated by New Jersey Transit is now $12.50 one way from NYC Penn Station to Trenton, Round Off-Peak ticket is $21.75.
SEPTA R-7 cost $8 one way or roundtrip $14.
At Trenton, SEPTA Regional ticket vending machine is not in service, so you have to go upstair to get your ticket from NJT Window because if you bought from SEPTA Conductor, $2 Surcharge applies.
Same reason for New Jersey Transit. Buy ticket from New Jersey Transit machine to avoid $5 surcharge from New Jersey Transit conductor.
If you want to spend $8 one way or roundtrip on SEPTA, you could also avoided by taking $1.35 RiverLine one way, must be validaded, then at Walter Rand Transportation/Broadway PATCO Station, get $1.15 card and take PATCO to Center city stations.

What’s the cheapest/best way to get from New York City to Baltimore or Washington DC without a Car?
Going by plane is not the fastest because you need to check-in so much time in advance and go thru long security lines, etc. Airports are also outside the city. So, add in travel time to/from the airport .
Train tickets can cost as much as a cheap plane ticket, especially if you ride the newer “Acela” trains. Train fare on an “unreserved” train is cheapest.
Bus will probably be cheaper, definitely for last minute trips. There is a bus service called Dragon something, (could be wrong!), but it takes you between Chinatown in NY to Chinatown in DC. They are cheaper than the Greyhound, PeterPan, Trailways bus services.
The easiest is the train because it goes from downtown to downtown. The cheapest is the bus. Forget Greyhound and Peter Pan, the cheapest options are:
http://www.2000coach.com/ ($35 round trip/$20 one way)
http://www.washny.com/ ($35 round trip/$20 one way)
Both of the bus lines pick up at a variety of convenient locations in downtown DC and Manhattan. You can make a reservation on the web site and then pay the driver when you get on the bus. Both lines are safe and clean.
